Project Background

The £200m development known as Central Business Exchange III (CBX 3) is 14 storeys, and a first for Milton Keynes. The 2.34 ha (5.8 acre) site on Midsummer Boulevard was designed by Quartet Architects/Q2, submitted by developer Frontier Estates and approved by Milton Keynes Council.

SCS Group's Involvement

SCS Group was asked to get involved on the project by M&E contractor Briggs and Forrester to provide a value engineered solution. Working with the fire alarm contractor and electricians £50,000 was saved. SCS was chosen to supply and install a control system to smoke shafts in 5no. buildings, all between 10 and 15 floors. SCS designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a uniForce car park ventilation system, complete with CFD modelling.

SCS Group's Solution

SCS Group's uniJet car park ventilation system was installed in the basement and our uniVent shaft system to the accommodation areas. The project team worked closely with the developer and M&E contractor to provide the best value solution.
