Crossharbour, Canary Wharf, London

Project title: Crossharbour, Canary Wharf, London

Location: Canary Wharf

Project Value: £1,000,000.00

Project Duration: 24 months

Project Background

This residential development known as Crossharbour at Canary Wharf, London, is a combination of residential, office, leisure, retail and community uses, together with an upgraded DLR station. The 2.74 hectare former London Arena site developed by international construction firm Ballymore Properties comprises of 700 apartments including affordable housing.

SCS Group's Involvement

SCS Group tendered and won the residential side of this project through M&E contractor Essex Services Group working for Ballymore Properties. The project included 5 residential blocks and car parks and required a complicated design for triple car park stackers. With this in mind, SCS Group had to clearly demonstrate at tender stage their ability and expertise required for this intense project.

SCS Group's Solution

SCS Group was chosen to run the contract to supply and install control systems and provide a value engineered solution for Crossharbour. A combination of co-compliant natural and mechanical ventilation systems were supplied and installed by the SCS Group at this residential site. SCS designed its Uniforce car park ventilation system using CFD modeling. 14 mechanical shafts and 7 natural shafts were designed, supplied and installed in all five residential blocks. The project team worked closely with the developer and M&E Contractor to provide the best value solution using lean construction.

"The positive attitude SCS Group showed throughout the tendering process on everything from commercial to tricky technical issues really impressed us. We have worked with the firm on smaller projects in the past and knew they would be perfect for such a large scale development due to their technical expertise and can-do approach."
