30th June 2009

Building Safety Simply
A new force in the building services market is being launched by the SCS Group, which is bringing together its smoke control, passive ventilation, control and automation and consultancy divisions with the aim of making projects easier for mechanical and electrical contractors.
The new entity comprises the two former companies of SCS Automation and Smoke Control Services, and will specialise in offering integrated control solutions for a range of building services needs.
The rebrand will create the UK's first one stop shop for the design, manufacture and installation of systems for ventilation, smoke control and building management applications and will offer a wide range of integrated systems to help clients reduce costs and resources, by streamlining supply chains.
SCS Group has a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Dorset and a national network of fully qualified project engineers. Its systems have been installed in thousands of landmark buildings and projects nationwide including the London Transport Museum, London's biggest shopping centre White City and the redevelopment of the land surrounding Wembley stadium into an vibrant 85-acre residential and entertainment quarter.
The firm has built a strong reputation for technical
excellence, innovation and quality, and secured industry recognition for its solutions
at the 2008 Construction News Specialists Awards and 2005 Building
Services Awards.
To mark the launch of the new group, SCS will be offering a
programme of free seminars for mechanical and electrical contractors across the
UK and is urging contractors to check www.groupscs.co.uk

Managing Director Allan Meek said:
"We've listened to our clients in the M&E sector and we've reacted to their needs. Increasingly our clients are seeking specialist suppliers with tried and tested capability and expertise to deliver holistic solutions for everything from residential and commercial buildings to industrial waste treatment plants.
"In a market worth £17 billion, it made sense to bring together our expertise into a ‘one stop shop' for the sector and offer customers cost savings and reduced installation time, which ultimately helps boost their profits. We always take a collaborative approach towards projects and simplicity is our watchword.
"Our approach is not to make projects any more complicated than they need to be. We don't believe in ‘over-selling', only recommending the solutions necessary to fulfill the purpose and operating a transparent costing policy so that clients have all they need to make informed choices.
"During the current economic climate, it makes sense to reduce the number of suppliers on site and streamline supply chains wherever possible. Our offering will help our customers achieve that whilst having full confidence in our 17 years of experience in the industry."
